Pinewood Derby time!
Andrew had his very first Pinewood Derby as a Cub Scout this January. His design was inspired by .... SPACE... Our nice hometeacher Russ Anderson cut out the design, then Andrew sanded, painted, then added the decals... I think it turned out great!
He was awarded Most Futuristic design.
Andrew had a blast racing his car and running around with his friends. An impromtu game of dodgeball ended the evening- Dads are so much fun...
Andrew said he had a great time and was happy with being #14 out of 16, but next time could we do some research on making the car a little faster?

Not to miss out on all of the fun had by the boys, we decided to do a Daddy Daughter Pinewood Derby with the Activity Day girls. I am lucky to be in there with Alexa as one of the leaders! Her design was based on a Cheetah. Andrew assured her that a wedge shape would be her best bet for speed... Clint and Lexi cut hers out at the Brady's, Lexi sanded, painted and did all of those cheetah spots. I think it looked GREAT- she was awarded Most Purrfect design. She had a blast racing her car and running around with her friends...
When it was announced that Alexa came in #12 out of 12 she cheered like she had won the Grand Prix.
I wouldn't have been prouder of my kids if they had been first place- losing with style builds character! OK and we will be doing a little research before next time, but still- It was a great experience!
